Understanding Trauma is Palm Tree Covering’s foundational trauma psychoeducation program.

The program helps participants understand trauma, its impacts and how trauma can influence emotions, behaviours, relationships and wellbeing.

This program is suitable for people learning about trauma for the first time, as well as people wanting to refresh, strengthen or expand their existing knowledge and skills.

Participants explore:

Types of trauma, including childhood trauma, complex trauma, sexual trauma, family violence, intergenerational trauma and vicarious trauma

The program aims to increase understanding, reduce stigma and help participants better understand trauma and its impacts.

The program also supports participants to build knowledge, strengthen confidence and develop practical understanding of how trauma can affect individuals, families, relationships, workplaces and communities.

The program is designed to strengthen early awareness, increase understanding and help participants recognise appropriate help-seeking pathways when trauma-related concerns are present.
